It was Barbara who played the decisive shot with her penultimate bowl, to turn a two-shot deficit into a one-shot victory.

The success ended Barbara’s long wait for a medal, having competed in the previous four Commonwealth Games without standing on the rostrum.

Speaking ahead of this morning’s game, Barbara said: “The Commonwealth to me would be the medal to win. It would be a dream come true.”
