On Monday Night Father and Son partnership Roy and Mark Torrington took on C McCartan and D J Wilson (Dunbarton).

The Ballymena men held a 3 shot lead with only 2 ends remaining, however the Dunbarton duo picked up a count of 4 shots on the 20th end and 2 further shots on the final end gave them victory over the Braid pair by 23 shots to 20.

On Tuesday night Andrew Morrison took on D Witherspoon (Larne) in the semi final of the Open Singles.

This was a good game but in the end it was the Ballymena man who came through by 21 shots to 15. Mark McPeak (Belmont) won the other semi final.

Young Steven Shields was through to the semi final of the Junior Singles (Under 25) and on paper he faced a tough game against Terry Crawford (Belmont) as both of these players have won the title in the past.

This game turned out to be a bit of an anti climax as the Ballymena man was in excellent form and he won the game comfortably by 21 shots to 7. In the final he will face Ryan Cavan (Pickie)

In the Senior Fours JR Nicholl, Rod Coleman, Roy Torrington and Jimmy Hodges took on a Larne rink skipped by D Snoddy. This was a close affair but ultimately it ended in heartache for the Braid men who lost out by the narrowest of margins to the Larne men with the final score 18-17.

The finals of the NIPGL Championships were due to take place on Saturday with both singles finals taking place at 3pm however there was no play due to the green being waterlogged.

Both of the singles finals have been pencilled in for Thursday night and Ballymena Bowling Club send their best wishes to both players.
