Cambridge House pupil gets Ulster call

Cambridge House Grammar School student, Claire Donald has been selected to play for the Ulster Under 18 Hockey Squad in the 2014 interprovincial tournament from October 17 to 19 at Lisnagarvey Hockey Club.

Claire started to play hockey in primary school, and at the age of 14 she was selected to take part in trials for the Ulster Talent Development Programme.

In the following years, Claire played for the Ulster Under 15, 16 and 18 teams.

Claire won gold in Holland with the U15s and gold at the Interprovincials in 2012 with the Ulster U16 side and gaining her first cap.

She was selected though trials in Dublin to play for the Ireland Under 16’s squad.

It was for a Tri-nations Tournament in 2013 that was held in Wales, where she gained her first international cap.

Alongside the Ulster and Irish Hockey, Claire also plays for Randalstown Ladies’ Hockey Club 2XI and Cambridge House Grammar School’s first XI team.
