The Under 14s became the third team from the club to progress to the next round of the NIBFA Cup when they had a comfortable win against East Belfast side, Bloomfield, with double strikes from Cory Little and Captain Ronnie Marshall.

They join the 12s, 13s, 15s and 16s in the next rounds, who all progressed in their respective cup ties in the last few weeks. The Under 15s played out an exciting 3-2 win over Coleraine Academy at a blustery Wakehurst, with Philip Maybin scoring the decisive goal against his former club, four minutes from the final whistle, seeing his team continue to climb up their league table. The Under 12s came undone against an unbeaten Linfield side losing out 1-5. The Under 13s were left disappointed when their NIBFA Cup tie against Eglinton Eagles was postponed.

The Under 11s kept themselves in action with a friendly match against neighbours Ballymena Utd YA out at the Sportshut, away from the atrocious weather.

Under 12 NIBFA National League

Carniny Youth 1 - 5 Linfield: Carniny started well with the strong wind at their backs. It wasn’t long before Carniny opened the scoring. It was a rare goal from Dylan Young when the ball was cleared to him he took one touch and fired it into the top corner from 25 yards to make it 1-0 Carniny.

Linfield came out the second half stronger with the wind at their backs. They scored within five minutes of the restart and then when Robinson failed to cut out a Linfield through ball the striker rounded McNicholl in goals and finished to make it 2-1. A missed judged pass back left the Linfield striker in again to make it 3-1.

The game was over when Linfield got their fourth and fifth in quick succession. Carniny now are on the look out for some friendly matches over the Xmas period while the league program is closed. Panel; McNicholl, Farquhar, Lamont, Robinson, Young, Simpson, Hamilton, White, Anderson, Lynn, Graffin, Mearns, Hunter and Moore

Carniny Youth 6 - 2 Bloomfield: Corey Little opened the scoring with Shea O’Brien adding number two from the penalty spot. Several good chances were missed early on in very blustery conditions with Carniny playing with the wind.

With Aaron Crawford’s passing ability he put Seaan Elliott through from the kick off who squared for Ronnie Marshall to side foot into the net. Shortly after Corey Little got his second of the game. But James McDonnell got his reward late on when he got his first and Carniny’s fifth. Bloomfield managed to pull a goal back after a fumble in the box. Ronnie Marshall got his second of the game after a great run from deep in his own half and cool finish under the keeper. Bloomfield got a second before full time.

Carniny Youth 3 - 2 Coleraine Academy: The Reds had the worst possible start when the impressive Coleraine left sided midfielder ran on to a straightforward pass, found himself completely unmarked, rounded the keeper and tapped home.

Early in the half Philip Maybin burst down the right flank and squared for Rhys O’Mullan to hook the ball home with his right foot for the equaliser. Five minutes later Maybin played a superb through ball to Conor Doherty whose shot squirmed under the keeper and Jamie Houston scrambled the ball home from close range.

The visitors, against the run of play, brought the game level when hesitation in the Reds defence allowed the left sided midfielder in for his second goal. Carniny won the game with four minutes to go when Philip Maybin smashed home the winner from 20 yards against his former club.

Squad: McClean, Campbell, Evans, McGall, McComb, O’Mullan, Maybin, Keenan, Houston, Hassan, Doherty.
