Local youth gear up for the season

The club’s Under 15 team have received a bye in the first round of the Graham Cup and will face either Cregagh or Cliftonville in the second round which is due to be played around 20th May.

The Under 13s also received a first round bye in the Banogue Cup and will travel to the winners of Dundrum or Downpatrick in the second round on 27th May.

The Under 15s will be attempting to defend their Division One league title when matches begin in May. The Under 13s, after lifting the Queensway Shield (Division Two) for the past two years, have moved up to Division One to give them more challenging games.

Meanwhile, the club’s Under 11 (primary school) team have been drawn away to Cregagh in the first round of the Quoile cup. Having made it to the semi-final stage of this competition last year, Derriaghy are hoping to at least match this achievement again.

Meanwhile, the club are on the lookout for new talent. They are running trial sessions at Wallace High School sports hall on Friday 4th and 11th March (5.15-6.15) for children from P3 upwards who are interested in learning about the game and developing new skills. Just turn up in tracksuit and trainers as all necessary equipment will be provided.

The club have also been fortunate to receive sponsorship for new outdoor jackets for their youth coaches from George Roberts & Co Accountants and Registered Auditors, Bachelors Walk, Lisburn.
