Ahoghill 'A' look strong contenders in Churches League

Now, with many of that team's personnel on board, it could be their clubmates First Ahoghill 'A' who could be strong contenders to wrestle the crown back from Killymurris Glarryford.

With the father-and-sons combination of Tom, William, Andrew and David Morrison skipping on the four rinks, the Ahoghill line-up has a more formidable look to it than last season, when the two Ahoghill teams re-shuffled their personnel.

A five-point haul from their 54-14 win over High Kirk took Ahoghill to the top of the table.

But that 40-shot success wasn't the biggest winning margin of the week, with Buckna defeating Second Broughshane 'B' in a match notable for the rarely-seen occurrence of a 'shut-out', with Sammy Hamill's rink whitewashing Victor McAlonan by 20 shots to nil.

But even that paled into insignificance when compared with Killymurris Carnlea's trip to Clough 'B' where they amassed a staggering 71 shots – a total which is unlikely to be surpassed this season.

Joe Campbell, M Wasson, David McCullough and Isle Compton all had runaway victories, as they restricted Clough – last season's basement side – to just 13 shots.
