After falling to their first defeat two weeks ago Coagh youth travelled to Newry side Ashgrove. Coagh Managers were looking for a response and that was exactly what they got with their young warriors running out 4-0 winners.

Before the start of the match both team Managers were aleft with a dilemma after the referee failed to show up. Both teams decided the best way was to do a half each.

Coagh started brighter with Jamie Holmes bursting down the left to find Carson in the middle and Carson made no mistake slotting home number one.

Coagh continued hold possession for a long periods and were rewarded when Wensley, Sloan and Carson released Holmes with a great pass for him fired the ball home for number two.

The home side didn’t really threaten the visitors solid back four. Coagh continued to pressure the home team and a great individual run from Stephen Taylor saw his effort narrowly shave the near top corner.

Coagh made three changes at half-time, Sam Taylor replaced Reid; Cousley came on for Jordan Holmes replaced Kane.

Half-time words from the bench really lifted the young lads and they took to the field eagar to get the match restarted.

A great piece of skill from Sam Taylor got him free; he linked with his cousin Stephen Taylor before he slotted the ball in off the post for number three.

Carson an Jamie Holmes continued to upset to the home team with push and run football. The dominate Wensley continued to control the midfield. At the front Coagh squandered a few chances before Jamie Holmes found space to let go a thunderous strike for the big man to doubled his tally for the game.

Mathew Wensley was this week’s man of the match with a solid performance in the middle of the park.

Last year Mathew was a goal keeper but his love for the game saw him wanting to try his luck as an outfield player and week to week progress has been super.
