FOOTBALL: Unity Cup will celebrate culture and diversity

A FOOTBALL tournament to celebrate culture and diversity will take place this month.

The Unity Cup is a five-a-side competition, organised by the North East Peace III Sport and Leisure programme. It is being managed by the UUC Sports Academy in conjunction with Coleraine Borough Council.

It will be held in Council’s new sports facility - the Jim Watt Sports Centre in Garvagh.

Three separate tournaments are being organised on Friday 11th, 18th and 25th March, as a means of bringing different cultures together to share their experiences of living in the North East.

The tournament is open exclusively to foreign nationals residing in the Coleraine Borough and will give participants the opportunity to meet and exchange ideas and information.

The tournament will also provide a platform to promote the various sporting opportunities available to foreign nationals in the area.

The Ulster Sports Academy is currently seeking to recruit teams to play in the tournament and express their cultural background.

Teams will be provided with transport to Garvagh, t-shirts and prizes for taking part in what will be an exciting spin on indoor football.
