Both sides head into Saturday’s clash in search of their first win of season. The Islanders have picked up two points from nine in the Premier Division, while Ciaran Kelly’s Rec are bottom of 1A after four games.

“The lads are busting to play in it,” Donald told the Times. “We don’t get too many local derbies now because the Tech, Welly Rec and Barn are down in 1A. We don’t really get the opportunity to face them, so we are definitely looking forward to it.”

And the Wilbourne Park manager is under no illusions as to just how difficult it will be to come away from Brookvale Park with a positive result.

“It will be a tough game. It’s always hard playing there; it’s a good set-up with good facilities but it’s the Border Cup... and whatever comes along Cup-wise is a bonus.”
