Johns, who signed on at The Showgrounds in January, has agreed a new one-year contract with the club, while long-serving stopper Michael Doherty has also agreed terms, which will see him take over the goalkeeping coaching role as well as playing.

Reserve keeper Andy Findlay is heading out on a season-long loan to Wakehurst.

“I’m delighted to have signed both Chris and Michael up to new deals,” said Oran Kearney.

“It provides us with very strong competition for the goalkeeping position.

“Chris obviously came in last January and did very well, and he will start with the jersey this season, but it’s great to have someone like Doc who will push him all the way.

“Doc has always been keen to get into coaching, and has recently attained his goalkeeping diploma, so he will be taking over the coaching duties for the coming season.

“It’s a great opportunity for him and one which he is very keen to pursue.

“I would like to thank Glenn Millar for all his hard work and commitment last season as he took the keepers.

“We are very thankful to Glenn, who took the role on a voluntary basis, and wish him well.

“We’d also like to wish Andy Findlay well as he heads out on loan to Wakehurst.

“Andy has reached a stage in his career were he needs to be playing regular first team football, and this is a great opportunity for him to do that.

“This is by no means goodbye to Andy, this is to give him much needed competitive experience and he is really looking forward to it.

“I know he will come back to Coleraine stronger for it, it will be an invaluable experience for him.”
