New initiative is kids’ stuff for Ballymena United!

BALLYMENA United Football Club is delighted to announce the launch of the new Junior Sky Blues supporters club ahead of the new season.

The new initiative is aimed at bringing together young supporters under the age of 12 to enjoy football in a fun and safe environment whilst also given to enjoy local football and supporting their team!

For a one off subscription of £25, the Junior Sky Blues members will get admission to all home league games during the 2012/2013 season and also given to take part in a host of activities throughout the season within the new scheme such as regular pre-match events, meeting the players and prize draws.

Company Secretary Neil Coleman said: “We’re really excited to be launching new Junior Sky Blues initiative this summer and we would encourage all parents and children to get involved.

“We’ve got a great enthusiastic team involved and I’m positive that excitement will rub off on the kids.

“It’s a first for the club to have run a project of this scale for our young supporters, but we have a commitment to support all our fans, whatever the age, and these kids will be the future supporters of this football club”.

Junior Sky Blues will be having a stand at the club’s annual Open Day on Saturday 28th July with a free prize draw for a football signed by the Ballymena United team open to all those who have signed up to the Junior Sky Blues.

* Meanwhile, Glenn Ferguson this week added David Dorrian to his backroom staff as reserve team manager, succeeding Clifford Adams, who has been promoted to the role of performance analyst with the first team.

Dorrian will be a familiar face at the Showgrounds, having previously managed the second string during Tommy Wright’s time in charge, during which he led the Sky Blues to the Reserve League title.

Since leaving Ballymena, he has worked under Marty Quinn at both Bangor and Glenavon, where he was involved with coaching the first team.

“A reserve team manager not only has to be able to work at developing young players with a view to them going on to the first team but also has to be able to work with senior players when they drop down to the Reserves.

“We’re very fortunate that David has a wealth of experience in both those factors and we’re very pleased to have him on board,” added Ferguson.
