Flood arrives at Inver Park as replacement for John Connolly who quit the club last month.

“Over the last couple of months I had been thinking about my future and when I was talking to Davy (McAlinden) and heard what he had to say, and what his plans were for me and the club over the next year or two, Inver Park was the only place I wanted to be,” Flood said.

He added: “It’s hard to leave Ballyclare but I feel that the time is right to try a new challenge.”

The 24-year-old, widely regarded as one of the most consistent keepers in the Irish League’s second tier, made 178 appearances for the Dixon Park outfit.

He made his debut for the Reds in the 2006-07 campaign.

With youngster Daniel McWilliams the only stopper on Larne’s books, Flood is likely to be handed the number one jersey by his new boss Davy McAlinden and could start for Larne in Thursday night’s friendly at Shankill United.

He follows Andrew Doyle (Carrick Rangers) and Kyle Buckley (Ards) out the exit door at Ballyclare.
