125th Anniversary Stableford win for John

John McCarter played to his handicap to score 36 points and claim his victory in the 125th Anniversary Stableford at the weekend.

His double bogey six at the seventh restricted his outward nine tally to 18 points and he matched this after the turn too, signing for his 36 points. Paddy O’Donnell came in just one point shy of John on 35. Paddy dropped in a birdie four at the second to help him to his halfway tally of 18 points and slipped in another at the long seventeenth to gather 17 more for the card.

Alan Smyth too third spot with 34 points, a couple of triple bogies in the closing stages of his round kept his back nine score down to 16 after a good 18 out.

Philip Tweedie claimed the Best Gross with his round of 79. Both front nine par fives fell to birdie fours to see Philip out in 36 shots, level par, but a few shots went west with the wind coming back. 43 was the back nine score to see Philip home in 79.
