Dermot leads way in race for NI Open place

The North of Ireland Strokeplay tournament got underway yesterday at Galgorm Castle Golf Club, with great weather helping to produce some good scores.

The leader after the opening two rounds was Dermot McElroy with an excellent score of 66, followed by a 68 for his afternoon round.

With a strong chasing pack it is set up to be an exciting day 2 with the winner gaining entry to the Northern Ireland Open from August 29 – September 1, again at Galgorm Castle.
