Foyle readyfor Ulster final

FOYLE Golf Club will contest the Ulster Final of the Pierce Purcell Shield against Rossmore Golf Club on Sunday at Dunmurry with the match starting at 2.10pm.

A bus travelling to the Final will leave the Club at 10am sharp with 30 places only available at a cost of £10; all members travelling are asked to enter their names on the sheet provided in the shop and pay Jackie Thomas or Kevin Dunn ASAP to book their seats.

Today (Wednesday) until Sunday the Confined Golf Classic (Teams of 4 any combination) will be staged. Members should see notice board for further information.

The Foyle Hospice Charity Open Stableford staged at Foyle on Saturday enjoyed a fine entry on an excellent day with the compeitors enjoying a course in pristine condition.

It took a two way 39 points break of tie to decide the winner with local Solicitor Ciaran McGuinness (13) getting the verdict over Damien McColgan (13) virtue of his superior back 9, Patrick McDaid (18) finished with 38 points to take third place.

The gross winner was Damien McKenna (18) after he scored 34 points and Chris McCauley (20) with 21 points won the back nine after a BOT finish. The CSS was 35 points.

Gavin McDonell (15) with 42 points claimed the Friday open stableford competition, with Gary McGeoghan (10) from Ballyliffin finished second after a BOT finish when he scored 40 points and Kevin McDermott (23) was third after he too finished with 40 points.
