Good weatherbrings good scores to Lisburn GC

THE good weather last Saturday morning brought good scores in Lisburn’s Winter League.

A shower in the afternoon did not prevent eighteen competitors scoring 20 points or more.

Mervyn Law (11) was top scorer with 23 points in Section 1. He went round the front nine in 38 but due to a previous success he was relegated to third place.

Robert McCoosh (13) was declared the winner with 21 points having played the nine holes in 39. Gregory Law, Ben Kirkwood, Stephen Leathem and John Poole tied on 20 with Ben coming second on count back.

Brian Sparkes (18) and Michael McNeice (18) tied on 21 points at the top of Section 2 with Brian’s better finish securing top spot.

Bob Hope, William Friars, Chris Davis, Tom Crawford, Philip Stewart and Ian Robinson all finished one point in arrears with William getting third spot on count back.

A handicap reduction kept Wesley Haslett out of the prizes in Section 3 leaving John Dale (24) in first place ahead of John Patterson (24) on count back after they tied on 21points.

Derek Gallagher (20) and Sam McCallister (21) tied on 20 points with Derek being awarded third place.

Sunday Winter League results: 1st John McMillan 23pts, 2nd Neil Law 23 pts,3rd Steven Shields 21pts.

Closest to flag at 4th John Green, Closest to flag at 6th Philip Dixon.
