“Golf Odyssey” - the independent golf travel guide which gives expert opinion on world golf destinations to it’s subscription-based readers, has awarded Ballyliffin a Platinum Place in its World’s Best Golf Destinations in 2013-14.

And the award is fantastic news for Ballyliffin and the entire North West region, the recognition and resulting publicity giving the Inishowen club’s international profile a significant boost. Indeed, the news is also expected to attract more visitors to Ballyliffin.

The club’s two courses has long contested national and international recognition for the quality of both links and this award from one of the world’s leading golf magazines represents a welcome enhancement to the local marketing efforts as it strives to attract continued international visitors to play The Glashedy Links and The Old Links.

The news comes hot on the heels of the recent breakthrough in the www.top100golfcourses.co.uk where both links courses featured in the top 100 courses in Britain and Ireland for the first time and in the Golf Digest Ireland Top Courses in Ireland where the Ballyliffin pair feature in the top 20.

While Foyle Golf Club Sunday Society members had to endure tough playing conditions in their latest outing.

Paul Dunn (23) recorded his maiden victory with a fine score of 40 points.

The Pitchers Spring League continues daily, as does the Easter Egg Competitions, while the Sunday Society will again take place at the weekend, with another big crowd expected.
