‘Green’ for go as outdoor season commences

BALLYMENA Bowling Club got their 2011 season officially underway last Saturday afternoon at their Old Ballymoney Road premises and it was up to the new Ballymena Bowling Club President, Mr Jackie Barr and the new Lady President, Mrs Donna McCloy to deliver the first bowl of the season.

The weather was kind and there was a good turnout of members to help celebrate the official start to the season. The opening was followed by the usual fun bowls competition which was kindly organised by Robert McCready.

Once the competition had concluded the ladies provided an excellent tea and the winners of the fun bowls were presented with prizes.

SELECTION MEETING

There will be a meeting on Monday, April 11, at 7.30 pm sharp at the Club to pick selectors for five Ballymena Teams – Seniors, Juniors, Senior Park, Junior Park and Midweek.

A good turnout of members who want to play Saturday or Wednesday bowls is requested so that they can have their say in who actually takes on the important role of selecting the various teams.

See this week’s Ballymena Times for Graham Wilson’s preview of the various Ballymena teams.
