Gregg first home for Larne AC at Woodburn

It was round two of the East Antrim Harriers’ Trail Series in midweek and Larne Athletic Club runners were again out in force.

This time the course was a 2.5-mile circuit of Woodburn Forest with a big hill just after the one mile point.

Andy Gregg was first home for Larne AC in eigth place overall with a time of 15.03 to finish first in the Vet45 category.

Brian Heron made a good start to his series in 10th place (15:17) and second Vet40 while Ian McCluggage finished 14th (15.43) in his debut run in the series.

Other times: Martan Keane, 16th (15.46), Nigel Kane, 22nd (16.05), with Emmett Woods second Vet45 in 27th overall (16.44). Completing the top 40 were Bobby Boal, 28th (16.50), Andrew Beattie, 32nd (17.02) and Bert Shaw, 39th (17.14).

First Larne AC lady over the line was Rhonda Brady in 43rd overall with a time of 18:43, which saw her finish first in the Female Vet 40 category.

David Woods had a great run to finish third Under020 in 47th overall (18.48), with Laura Simpson, 60th (19.43), Max Beattie, 64th (19.50), Glenn Mann, 70th (20.05) and Jim Evans, 71st (20.10).

Bernie Regan in 73rd (20.16) again placed first in the Female Vet 55 category. Next for Larne AC and all running well were Karl Simpson, 74th (20.17), Gillian Given, 85th (21.16), Kirsten Montgomery, 89th (21.34), Robin Alexander, 90th (21.35), Elaine McKay, 92nd (21.38), Emily Boal, 96th (22.40), Marty McKay, 99th (22.57) and Geraldine Hastings, 100th (23.14).

Michele Woods and Irene Beattie both finished third in their categories in 104th (23:46) and 106th (24:08) respectively.

Joanne McNeill, another newcomer to the Trail Series, finished 107th in 24:15 while Ashleigh Gaston was 110th in 25.15. Laura Brennan was first Female Under 20, 112th overall in 25.44, with Amanda Wood, 114th (26.24) and Linda Moore, 115th (26.57). Cathy Baston, also in her first Trail Series run was 120th (28.05) with Margaret Ferguson, 121st in 29.58.

The third race in the series is scheduled for June 10 at Tardree Forest.
