Indoor competition heats up

McClay Trophy

The McClay Trophy, more commonly known as the annual Ladies versus Gents charity match, was competed for at 1st Larne Presbyterian last week.

The three first half games set the tone for the whole evening with some excellent bowling throughout. At half-time scores finished all square with the ladies taking a one rink win and the men gaining the advantage on the other two rinks.

The second half games were also very close with the ladies establishing a narrow lead. As the last end approached across the three mats the ladies were three shots in the ascendancy, but by the end of the game the men were able to salvage a 1 shot victory. This was an excellent evening of bowls played in the right spirit and to top it off over 200 was raised for charity.

The remaining second round ties have now been completed with the results being:

Engravers Shield

Two quarter-final games have so far been completed with Larne & Kilwaughter and First Larne having progressed to the semi finals. The remaining two quarter final ties between Gardenmore / Rangers and Cairncastle / Ballylumford have yet to be decided. These games are to be completed by Saturday 20th February.

Wilson Cup

Following quarter-final victories for All Saints and Kilwaughter against St Cedmas and LBLTC respectively the semi-final line ups have now been confirmed. These semi-final games are to be played by Friday 12th March and the draw is as follows:
