Josh aiming to be golf star of the future

Allen Park Golf Club junior golfer Josh Primity Punnoose has won the prestigious '˜Ping Star of the Future' award in the Under 8 category at the American Golf Junior Championships held at Swords Golf Club.

Awarded for the golfer who represents the best sportsmanship, spirit and attitude of the game of golf, the ‘Ping Star of the Future’ award qualifies Josh for a place in the final of the U.K. and Ireland Junior Championship to be held at Gainsborough Golf Club, headquarters to golf manufacturer Ping.

Qualifying alongside Josh were several talented Irish golfers including 5 qualifiers from Roganstown Golf Club.

Josh McCabe took the Best Gross title with a hugely impressive round of 71 playing off 5.

Second in the gross category was Keene Horner with 78 (11). The best net category was won by Patrick Keeling with a net 62 (19), just pipping Kyle Honer with a net 63 (21).

Finishing up the honours for Roganstown was Sean Keeling who was awarded the Ping ‘Star of the Future’ for over 8’s while Donabate Golf Club youngster Kate Hanratty picked up the qualifying spot in the girls category with an impressive net score of 71(29).
