The latest victims of the Braid juggernaut last Wednesday afternoon was Coleraine with the Ballymena ladies picking up yet another maximum haul of 6 points from a 59-35 success.

Jennie McCready, Maree Houston, Pat Allen and Barbara Cameron took control against R Lyons and a run of 14 shots without reply saw them open up a 17-shot lead. The visitors rallied briefly over the next 6 ends to reduce the deficit to 10 shots but seven shots over the last two ends gave Cameron’s ladies an excellent 28-11 victory.

Eva Gage, Gladys Power, Linda McCullough and Erin Smith made a slow start against L Evans and trailed 7-1 but by halfway the scores were tied at 8-8. A run of 5 successive shots between the 12th and 16th ends gave the Braid rink a 6 shot advantage and although Coleraine won the final two ends but it could not take the gloss off a very good Ballymena performance. The final score was 15-12 but Coleraine could only field 3 players so they forfeited a quarter of their score to leave the adjusted score 15-9.

Jean Rainey, Megan Wilson, Barbara Burnett and Donna McCloy also enjoyed a run in the middle of their game against E McClements when they accumulated a total of 12 unanswered shots.

If the Braid ladies thought that they would just cruise to a regulation victory then the visitors had other ideas. The Coleraine rink scored 9 shots over the next 4 ends to cut the arrears to only 3 shots with 1 end left to play however they were unable to complete the comeback when they could only manage to score 2 shots on the final end to go down by 16 shots to 15.
