The Corner House Bar and Grill in Derrymacash has agreed to sponsor a full set of jerseys for the country team which will be provided by McKeever’s sports store who are running a competition, with a 50 sports voucher to the winner for the best-designed crest on the jerseys. Further details of the competition will appear in next week’s ‘Mail’.

With new tenants now in place at the Corner House on a long term basis, Sean Creaney, manager, said: “We are delighted to be able to make this commitment to the country team which has players from all over North Armagh,

“The fact that the proceeds from the game go directly to SVDP is great, we are looking forward to helping out.”

The new jerseys will be welcomed according to the Lurgan Mail’s GAA reporter Eugene Creaney who said: “This is another boost for the competition which is growing in stature. Although the Armagh County Board, ire g and St. Mary’s Aghagallon all helped by loaning out their jerseys, this scenario moves things to a new level.”

Although, for the moment, the Town team do not have a sponsor, a number of companies have raised an interest and an announcement is expected in the near future.

This year’s game will see a return to a town venue and it is hoped that the new full-size pitch at St. Paul’s will be ready in time to hold the game with the consent of the Lurgan club.
