Looking back... British Legion considers inter-denominational service in Rathcoole
The Whitehouse branch of the Royal British Legion considered holding an inter-denominational remembrance service in Rathcoole in 1965.
The issue arose when arrangements for Remembrance Day services were being discussed.
It was suggested that instead of members attending a morning service in a Church of Ireland church and an evening service in a Presbyterian church, as usual, Roman Catholic and Protestant clergy in the district could be invited to take part in a shared service.
