POOL: Q Club pocket first points with win over Ibrox

Two teams lost their 100 per cent records in the Larne and District Pool League this week. Q Club picked up their first points of the season in a 9-7 win denting Ibrox’s title hopes.

The home side had Wayne Lewis to thank for winning the play-off, despite an Ellis Martin hat-trick for the visitors.

Feathers drew 8-8 with Thatch Rockets who were inspired by Rab Brown and Sara Greenberg hat-tricks, but were denied the win by Lenny Swann. The Thatch had a comfortable 13-2 win at the Freewheelers, Ryan Mckillop and Johnny Nelson with trebles.

Saints had a comfortable 14-1 success at Ruby’s. Dean McDonagh, Gary Johnston, Paul McAlister and Anthony McCrorry bagged trebles.

Meanwhile, Q Pool continued their fine start with an 11-4 win at the always tricky Station Bar, Rab McCullough and Desmond Cooper with hat-tricks.

The Tech Tornadoes were missing captain Nick McClay but were left in the capable hands of his father, Norman, who led them to a hard-fought 9-6 win over the Blues.

The Gers and No. 1 Reds battled to a 8-8 draw in the Rangers Club while last but not least St Comgall’s won the big derby against Clonlee 9-6.

Larne Pool League has postponed this week’s fixtures after the death of its vice-chairperson’s son.

“The committee and players of the league would like to extend their deepest sympathies to vice-chairperson and longtime league stalwart Scott Hutchinson and his family on the passing of his son, Graeme,” read a statement.

“As a mark of respect, the decision has been made to postpone this week’s matches.”
