Saturday Morning League rule changes

A number of rule changes were agreed at last Monday night’s Saturday Morning League AGM.

The Rule which allowed teams to call off 2 matches during the season if both teams were in agreement was abolished with only matches allowed to be called off because of the death of a player, official or a close relative of a player or official. A team can still request 2 free dates in advance provided 5 weeks’ notice is given.

A new rule was passed which allows the BSML Council to take action they feel appropriate against teams who withdraw from Cup Competitions without sufficient reason. The BSML Council now has the right to reinstate the team who was beaten by the team withdrawing or the team beaten by a team who was dismissed by the BSML Council in the previous round provided the next round has not been played. BSML Division One will have 14 teams starting and with the promotion of Waveney Swifts 3rd Placed team in Division Three being promoted to Division Two Connor and Newpark Olympic, who finished level in 4th place have to play off to see who is promoted to BSML Division Two.
