SPAR Omagh Half Marathon

SPRINGWELL Runners made the long journey to Omagh on Saturday for the 21st SPAR Omagh Half Marathon. Nearly 1200 runners took part in the second race in the NI Half Marathon Grand Prix Series.

The runners were set on their way by Eamonn Coghlan Ireland’s former World 5000 metre champion as the tackled the undulating Omagh Course. Clonliffe Harriers Sergui Ciobann led the field home in a time of 1:07:44 closely followed by local man Stephen Duncan 1:08:38 with Armagh’s Richard Turkington third in 1:11:56. Maria McCambridge winner last Saturday in Larne led the ladies home in 1:18:56 with North Belfast’s Breege Connolly second in 1:19:34 and Lorraine Manning, Raheny Shamrocks third in 1:19:34.

Bryan Edgar was the first Springwell Runner home in 1:21:23 followed by Johnny Wilson 1:29:16, Jim Breen 1:29:17 (2nd MO55), Leslie Ashe 1:31:12 (3rd MO50), James McMullan 1:32:07, Gerard Mullan 1:33:00, Fran McFadden 1:35:34, Kenny Coulter 1:36:36, Nigel Simpson 1:38:45 (PB), Ricky McMaster 1:38:45, Hugh Deighan 1:38:33 despite taking a tumble, Alan McKeeman 1:39:35, Robert Workman 1:40:32 (PB), Pamela McGlade 1:40:53, Philip Given 1:40:53, Peter Jack 1:44:48, Richard Nolan 1:48:13, William O’Kane 2:05:10, Debbie Tutty 2:06:12 (PB), Kenny Bacon 2:06:13 and Richard Brown 2:07:21.

Also running were former members Robert Robb 1:42:24, Ella Loughery and Anne Bonner 1:49:57.
