Many of those taking part are new to Judo and were successful in gaining their promotion. This grading marked the penultimate night of judo training before Christmas break and the results are listed below. The Club is especially thankful to Stuart Reece who once again provided a box of Christmas gifts for the Club, a nice end of the year climax.

On the final night of 2013 the Club will be visited by professional coach Dermot Heslop 6th Dan who will be in Northern Ireland for a coach assessment in Londonderry at the weekend.

Other important Judo news from Club is the winning of bronze medals at the FUNdamentals Tournament in Londonderry last weekend by Jack Mathews and Joel Duncan who put up a tremendous performance.

At a Dan Grading, also last weekend, Phil Barnett (Coleraine Club) and Kingsley Hepburn (UUC Club) demolished all opposition to gain five ten point wins (ippon) each to complete the competition requirement for their black belt 1st Dan.

They just have just a technical examination to complete to reach this important stage of their Judo career. Club training will commence again in the New Year on Wednesday 8th January (Seniors) and Friday 10th January (Juniors).
