Whites close to survival with win

Gary Thompson headed Distillery ahead on nine minutes and Neal Gawley doubled the lead before half-time.

Hide AdRyan Harpur pulled a goal back for the home side on 53 minutes as Glenavon improved but Austin Friel's goal on 73 minutes made the game safe for the Whites.
Thompson headed Distillery's opener after connecting with an Andy Kilmartin cross.
As the Whites dominated the match, Gawley hit the woodwork and both he and Glenn Ferguson went close to doubling Distillery's advantage.
The Whites deservedly went 2-0 ahead when Gawley fired home after Ferguson had flicked on a Peter McCann cross.

However, the points were secured for the Whites when Friel hammered home on 73 minutes to take a vital and deserved victory for the Whites.
