Gareth Jones, who was assistant manager of the hotel in the late 1960s came across these pictures while clearing out his attic and thoughtfully got in touch with us to see if we would like to share them with our readers.
So, have a closer look and see if you recognise anyone!

Gareth Jones (right) can't remember the name of the man in the centre of this photo, but he thinks he was the manager of the Eagle Bar. On the left is Charlie Murray.

Gareth Jones recalls the fun behind this fake "operation". "One of the lads had found an old tailor's mannequin lying around and one of the wags decided to perform an operation on it, The 'operating theatre' was organised in one of the rooms overlooking the Main Street. Tomato sauce was used for 'blood’ and a carving knife were nicked - sorry acquired -from Pat’s kitchen. One of the arms was amputated in the procedure," he remembers. "In the picture are the manager of the Eagle Bar, (his name escapes me) Charlie Murray, John Bell, and Frankie Cosgrove. Why we did it I don’t know just a bit of fun I suppose,".

This old photo from Gareth Jones' time at the King's Arms Hotel in 1967-68 features (fourth from left) Paddy Avington, tour guide. "Sitting on the arms of the seat is a regular customer Captain Green," said Gareth. "I recognise the white-haired gentleman, but for the life of me I can’t remember his name, I think he either worked at head office (McNeill's) or he was possibly a director of the company."
