Congratulations pour in for Ahoghill team

Ahoghill's astounding rise to floral stardom did not happen overnight and there has been a wave of praise those who have worked so hard to reach such lofty heights.

Leading the messages of congratulations was local resident and TUV councillor, Stewart McDonald, no stranger to a brish and shovel when it comes to keeping his home area spick and span.

He said: “I could not be more proud of my home village. I have worked alongside the volunteers to ensure the village was ready for the judging panels arrival. Over the countless of hours of time put in I have developed a close working relationship with the Ahoghill in Bloom team, and I hope to continue this in future years. Now that we have won this prestigious award, we will get ready for the next project in the Diamond area of the village.”

He was joined by fellow Ahoghill man, DUP Assmeblyman, Philip Logan who added: “I had the privilege of meeting and speaking with the judges when they were over in July. I could tell very quickly they were impressed with the village when they saw, at first hand, the dedication of local volunteers and the hard work that has gone into improving the village over the years.”

Ulster Unionist Assemblyman Robin Swann said: “Ahoghill has a tremendous record in these competitions and I would encourage as many locations as possible to enter these awards. I send my heartiest congratulations to the organisers in Ahoghill who made this superb achievement possible and I wish them even more success in the future.”

And North Antrim MP Ian Paisley added his congratulations to all involved: “This is a wonderful accolade for all those concerned and I extend to all concerned my congratulations and my thanks for their many, many years of hard work on behalf of the community.”
