Dunsilly Hotel is venue for GAA Casement consultation

Ulster GAA will host an event at the Dunsilly Hotel on Thursday 30th June to offer everyone in the local area and across Co. Antrim the chance to play their part in the consultation to help create a new and modern Provincial Stadium at Casement Park.

The Casement Park Project Team will be on hand to provide the opportunity for everyone that has an interest in the project to discuss their views and vision for a redeveloped Casement Park.

Thursday’s event will take place from 5:30 - 8pm and forms an essential element of the consultation process with the team collecting views and feedback from a wide range of interested parties which will help inform the stadiums design. Once stadium plans have progressed at Stage 2, additional feedback will be sought in late Summer/Autumn 2016.

Tom Daly Chairman of the Casement Park Project Board commented “The Casement Park Project Team is looking forward to visiting the Dunsilly Hotel on Thursday and we would encourage anyone with an interest in the stadium to come along. This is an entirely new process, there are no designs or plans in place and the capacity has not yet been determined. The first stage of the consultation is giving us the opportunity to listen and take people’s views into account as our designs evolve. We will have experts and key members of our team on hand to answer any questions people may have.”

Antrim Secretary Frankie Quinn added “Since opening in 1953 Casement Park has played a significant role in the development, promotion and profile of Gaelic Games in Belfast, Antrim & Ulster. The stadium has remained an iconic landmark in West Belfast and has helped embed Gaelic culture in the heart of Ireland’s second city.

“We in Ulster GAA, working as part of a proud community organisation are excited at the prospect of building a new modern stadium at Casement Park. In 2016 we are looking forward to a new era and a new modern stadium; already the home to Antrim GAA we are excited at the prospect of Casement also becoming the home of Ulster GAA.
