Passing of Dr. Samuel Simpson

The death has occurred of Dr. Samuel Simpson who was for many years the headmaster at Carniny Primary School in Ballymena.

Dr. Simpson was described as an inspiring teacher by one former pupil.

“He was an institution at Carniny and everyone who attended that school during his time there will be sad to hear of his passing,” she said.

Dr. Simpson was a staunch supporter of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution and last year he was honoured at the charity’s annual presentation of awards.

He was presented with a silver badge in recognition of his commitment and dedication by RNLI Chairman Charles Hunter-Pease.

Dr Simpson became chairman of the Ballymena Branch in 2004.

Dr. Samuel John Simpson, 5th February 2016. Peacefully in the Intensive Care Unit at Antrim Area Hospital with family by his side. Late of 6 Crankill Road, Ballymena. Devoted and dearly loved husband of Frances, father of Glen and Jane, father-in-law of Laura and Graham. Grandfather of Amy, Erin, Tom and Jack. Beloved brother and brother-in-law of Rosemary and Albert.

Funeral service in Gracehill Moravian Church at 2pm on Sunday 7th February. Interment afterwards in Cullybackey Cemetery.
