Ballymena United Youth Academy sides are back in action this weekend with some intriguing fixtures on offer.

The under 12’s travel to Portadown for a league fixture, the ever improving side will be looking to measure their progression against a side they faced at the beginning of the campaign.

The under 13’s however are involved in the pick of the weekend fixtures, they face cross town opposition in Carniny in the town on Saturday morning in a league cup tie.

Both sides are among the best in the province at this age group and the borough is lucky to have a wealth of talented young players at this level.

United under 14s are in league cup action also, they face Glendowan at the West Belfast venue and will be refreshed after their month’s break.

The under 15’s have a challenging tie away to crack Belfast outfit Ridgeway Rovers, but what a way to test how far this new look group has come with a game against one of the province’s elite.

United under 16’s are away to Glendowan also in the league cup and will be buoyed after a great performance against the sky blue 17’s last Friday.

One of the U-16s’ top performers this season has been Jack Walshe. The talented 15 year old has been training with the u19 youth team recently and has certainly not looked out of place, another name to watch for in the future.
