Maine Festival fun for all in Cullybackey on July 2

The Festival will feature activities for all ages and the first event will be a Teddy Bear Picnic at the John McKelvey Community Centre at around 11am, provided by the local NISA store, also featuring face painting, balloon modelling and the magical Teddy Bear Orchestra.

This will be followed in the afternoon by a Tea Dance at Cullybackey College at 2pm where dancers can step out in style to the music of Eric Moore and a delicious afternoon tea with strawberries and cream, provided by the local Eurospar, will round off the event.

Later in the day at 5pm the annual duck race, sponsored by Gilmore Engineering with £150 worth of prizes, will take place on the Maine River finishing at the Millennium Path.

At 6pm vintage cars and tractors will assemble at the Cuningham Car Park before moving to Cullybackey College, accompanied by the Mayor, Miss Cullybackey and Miss Teen Cullybackey, for judging of such categories as the oldest tractor, oldest car and farthest travelled.

Other festival attractions include a BBQ, bouncy castle, disco dome, obstacle course, face painting, balloon modelling, bric-a- brac stall.

An Army Musical entertainment will be provided by local girl Charmaine Glover, Counties Antrim and Derry country fiddlers, Eamon McQuaid and local line dancers.

Margaret Murphy, Cullybackey Development Association, said: “We are delighted to host this event again this year. We’ve been planning the Festival now for quite a while to make sure we have a great range of entertainment for all ages. We look forward to seeing a huge crowd at the Festival”
